1. KNIT HATS FOR ISRAELI SOLDIERS, Due Late Fall / early Winter

Calling all knitters/crocheters: We have a local contact that will send knitted winter hats to Israeli soldiers for the winter. Specific instructions will be provided. Crocheted items for babies are also being collected to send to Israel. Anyone can also contribute financially to support this initiative.

2. TERRI’S ANGELS, DUFFEL BAGS FOR ISRAEL, Ongoing

We will have the opportunity to purchase “Wish List” items for soldiers in Israel. The items are shipped to the JCC in Suffolk County, NY, and then volunteers who are already traveling to Israel transport the items to be used where most needed.

3. ADOPT A FAMILY: DONATE HOLIDAY GIFTS, December Date TBA

We have been participating in this wonderful program for over 25 years, since our synagogue was born! Each holiday season, we are given a list of needy families. If you volunteer, you will be given a brief description of one of these families along with their Christmas wish list and asked to shop for appropriate gifts or gift cards.

4. FOOD DRIVE COLLECTION BOX, Throughout the Year

We will be collecting non-perishable food to bring to the Food Pantry in Englewood on an ongoing basis. We are looking for volunteers to drive the items there when our box fills up.

 5. OPEN STORE COMMUNITY PROJECT, Fall Sun 10-26 / Spring Date TBA

“Open Store” is a food and clothing collection and distribution project, in conjunction with several other nearby faith communities and organizations. On 10/26, we will be distributing new or gently used coats, hats, scarves, and new underwear and toiletries (so no regular clothing or footwear). In the Spring, it will be the usual range of donations for everyone!

 6. RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE, June Date TBA

We will be returning this year to serve dinner for over one hundred residents of the Ronald McDonald House in New York, NY. Ronald McDonald House provides a warm, welcoming “home away from home” for families with children undergoing serious medical treatments at one of the nearby hospitals.
