The Kol HaNeshamah book club has been meeting 4-5 times a year for over 10 years! We enjoy an eclectic selection of fiction and non-fiction, most with Jewish themes or by Jewish or Israeli authors. Anyone is welcome to join us. We have started meeting in person, but participants also have the option of taking part over Zoom.
Mr. Mani, by A. B. Yehoshua
Thursday October 13, 2022
Dairy Potluck and Book Discussion at the Sukkah of Rebecca Ivry.
Mr. Mani is a deeply affecting six-generation family saga, extending from 19th century Greece and Poland to British occupied Palestine to German-occupied Create and ultimately to Israel. The narrative moves through time and is told in five conversations about the Mani family. It ends in Athens in 1848 with Avraham Mani’s powerful tale about the death of his young son in Jerusalem. A profoundly human novel, rich in drama, irony and wit. We will have a dairy pot-luck dinner during the discussion. Please bring a small side dish or beverage to share. RSVP at [email protected] to let us know that you are coming and what you will bring.
