֍ KH@30 Mitzvah Day Galore, Sun Nov 8. Choice of Three Activities!
Tikkun Olam - repairing the world - has been a pillar of our KH community since our founding. This year, as we celebrate 30 years of Kol HaNeshamah, we are having a Mitzvah Day on steroids! There will be 3 opportunities to participate in community service. You can participate in any or all of these events. We encourage you to spend the entire day with us!
1) Tree Planting at TNC. In the morning (10:30-noon), we will meet as a group at Tenafly Nature Center where we will be guided in planting trees.
2) Open Store (10-3). Distribute food, clothing and suuplies to those in need at Mackay Park in Englewood. Leading up to this event, we will be collecting new and gently used fall and winter clothing and shoes/boots, sorted by size and gender. Volunteer on the day of the event for two or more hours.
3) Terri’s Angels (3:30-5:00) We will meet to organize and prepare much-needed items and messages of support to IDF soldiers. We hope you can join us that day, but even if not, we hope you will participate by purchasing needed items from this Amazon wish list specific to our event. In order to have a successful event, we need over 100 items purchased by November 1. When you buy one or more items, you can attach a note which will be shared with the soldiers. Another way to support this program is to send a donation, and specify that it's for Terri’s Angels. We will use it to purchase items and/or “care bags” —crossbody bags given to the soldiers filled with many of the smaller items. These bags are $18 apiece and would like to distribute at least 20 of them total ($360 donation needed).
